Metrage of blue and cream damask, silver effect, China for the Western market, circa 1800, 18th century style, pointed decoration of a flower in full bloom among palms and branches, stamped on the back with Chinese characters, with weaving stop. A lead cachet with the Portuguese royal coat of arms is attached (mint condition, never used). The large widths were woven in China. Bibliography: Carl L.
