The Dutch East India Company or VOC (Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie), founded in 1602, was one of Europe's most powerful trading companies. With a fleet of several thousand ships sailing from the United Provinces to the Indonesian archipelago, Amsterdam became the hub of European trade. The Company was dissolved in 1799 following the Dutch-English war (1780-1784).
NB: SEEST Pieter - Born in Holstein in 1716, he was appointed foreman of the Amsterdam cannon and bell foundry in 1755. In 1770, he became director of the foundry.
