Set of appliqué embroideries, Napoleon III period, Henry Penon (1831- 1907), japonisant style, black satin appliqué embroidered with straw yellow taffeta embroidered with yellow silk and metallic threads of bamboo, banana trees, bird and butterfly, bears Henry Penon's embroidered signature (tears). 1, 12 x 0, 43 m ; 1, 32 x 0, 44 m ; 0, 97 x 0, 44 m ; 1, 30 x 0, 44 m ; 0, 35 x 0, 44 m & 0, 20 x 0, 43 m Henry Penon was active from 1853 to 1897, at the head of a major upholsterer and decorator firm. His clientele included the Empress Eugenie, the Viceroy of Egypt, the Prince of Sagan, the Duke of Nassau and others. He won a gold medal at the 1867 Universal Exhibition, for the pavilion dedicated to the Empress. The Musée des Arts Décoratifs holds 88 drawings of Penon's decorative projects.
