Maison Alphonse GIROUX Paris (1799-1881) - Blackened wood blotter or blotter, trimmed with embossed leather and inlaid with bone, tortoiseshell, decorated on the first cover with an important architectural design, the interior features a mail folder with three red silk pockets with gilded small-iron headers. Bears the label of A. GIROUX à Paris, circa 1845 - l 33 L 43,5 cm -NB.: Alphonse Giroux was one of the most prestigious stationers in Paris. Established at 7, rue du Coq-Saint-Honoré from 1826 to 1848, it was the supplier of the Comte de Chambord, and employed the best craftsmen, including bookbinders Thouvenin and Pierre Gruel. Maison Giroux required its craftsmen not to sign their names to their work.
