Edouard Marcel SANDOZ (1881-1971) "Couple of parakeets on the tail of a Caladium leaf". Empty pocket Very rare and superb proof in bronze with a strongly shaded brown patina, signed in wax near the foot of the leaf "Ed.M.Sandoz" and dated 1939, lost wax by Emile Robecchi, bears the foundry stamp "Cire Perdue - Paris- E.Robecchi" on the leaf opposite the artist's signature. 22 x 58 x 21 cm, weight: 4.556 Kg Expert: Jean-Christian Daveau NB: From 1934 to 1959, the Robecchi brothers, based in Malakoff, practiced high quality lost-wax casting. First Prince Troubetzkoy, then Pablo Picasso, had their original plaster casts published by this foundry in very small runs. Listed under number 1134 on page 448 of the artist's catalog raisonné by Félix Marcilhac, and to be compared with the model "Perruches se becquetant", original plasters no. 1119 and 1120, variants of our model on round base and table bell, page 446.
