Natural wood chair, banded back decorated with a remnant of printed decoration of antique characters, front connecting dice decorated with stylized daisies, front legs tapered to round section, rear legs sabres Late 18th/early 19th century 84,4 x 43,3 x 43,5 (Important restorations, later upholstery, traces of xylophagous insects) Bears a family label with the handwritten words: "Chair from the workshop of Jacob comes from the Chateau de l'Epée in Antibes where Madame Laetitia Bonaparte stayed during the captivity of Napoleon at Fort Carré 1795". Note: the fall of Robespierre led to Bonaparte's imprisonment, from August 6 to 20, 1794, at the Fort Carré in Antibes (or in a nearby residence). The château de l'Espée in Antibes was built in the second half of the 19th century. This chair does not come from this castle.
