Hei Tiki in jade mounted on an anchor. The second to last co - Lot 214
Hei Tiki in jade mounted on an anchor. The second to last collector who owned this pendant got it from his grandfather who would have obtained it from a sailor who was on the Korrigane. Anyway the patina of the anchor is old. This jewel is rare and exceptional. The tiki represents the ancestors. This jewel has a mana of luck. The mouth is the symbol of communication, the head of thought, the heart of love and fertility and the hands of power and strength. 10x4.5x0.5cm, total weight: 22 grams. Very beautiful realization of a Maori artist from the south of the island of New Zealand for the hei tiki. The work on the anchor was certainly done by a sailor in the early twentieth century on boats sailing in the Pacific Islands. Provenance : private collection south of France, private collection Paris region.
