NAPURULA NINGURA (Pintupi). Circa 1938-2013. Wirrulinga, 2007. Ningura was the wife of a great artist and initiate Yala Yala Gibbs Tjungurrayi. She assisted her husband a lot and started to paint alone in 1995. After his death in 1998 she began to produce much more to feed her family. An Australian postage stamp will be issued with the representation of one of her paintings in 2003. She was part of a group of 8 Australian Aboriginal artists who participated in the decoration of the Quai Branly Museum in Paris, where she painted the ceilings of a floor visible from the street to the public. She remains one of the holders of a sales record for an Australian Aboriginal art canvas in Europe. 94 x170 cm Provenance: Private collection, France.
