PETYARRE ADA BIRD (Anmatyerre), Circa 1930-2009 Awelye, 1995. Ada is an important artist in the Utopia community. She is a relative of Emily Kame and was, like her, a powerful voice for Australian Aboriginal culture. This painting depicts the body paintings worn by women during ceremonial dances, during which they often wear a crown of bird feathers and ritually bury a stick in the earth.
