JACKIE NAMANDALI Lizard / Goanna, 1997 The lizard, represented here on the brown ground, is very present in Aboriginal symbolism and is one of the favorite foods of the Aborigines who are often hunted by women who catch it in its burrow by pulling it by the tail and then stun it. The bark has the artist's name on the back with the reference JN 140-4-97 and goanna kalawan. The Injalak community cardboard label hangs on the back of the bark.
