Folio of a manuscript of Nezami's Haft Peikar, illustrated with Bahram Gur spending Tuesday in the red pavilion, Iran qâjâr, in the Safavid style, late 19th century Manuscript folio on paper with 23 lines of text in four columns, in Persian nasta'liq in black ink, the titles inscribed in red ink in a cartouche. One side illustrated with King Bahram Gur listening under the dome of the red pavilion to the story told by the daughter of the king of the Slavs in the presence of some maids. Framed under glass with a modern passe-partout decorated with foliage on a pink background. Dim. at sight : 24 x 14 cm Chips of paint, stains, freckles. The Haft Peikar (Seven Portraits), is one of the five books of the famous Khamseh (Quintet) of the Persian poet Nezami (circa 1141 - 1209). Expert: Camille Celier
