Prince Serge YOURIEVITCH - Sergei Aleksandrovich Yurevich dit - (1876 -1969) - Ecole de Paris "The two friends". Oil on canvas, signed lower left 89 x 117 cm, with the frame : 101 x 130 cm Some repaints ( Born in Paris to an aristocratic family from Belarus, he returned to Saint Petersburg to complete his studies in political science. In 1895 he moved back to Paris as an attaché to the Russian embassy. He founded the French Cultural Institute in Saint Petersburg. In 1903, he studied painting and sculpture with Rodin. From 1907, he exhibited his paintings at the Salon. In the meantime he became vice-president of the French Institute of General Psychology in Paris. Finally, he devoted himself entirely to sculpture and opened a studio in the Hôtel Biron above Rodin's studio. He became a French citizen in 1933 and an American citizen in 1957. He became a teacher at the Guildford School of Art and painted many portraits of personalities, including Franklin D. Roosevelt. We present here one of his rare works in painting.
