Folio from a manuscript of Nezâmi's Haft Peikar, illustrated with Bahram Gur spending Monday in the green pavilion, Iran, late 19th century and earlier. Composite work consisting of a manuscript folio on paper with a text of 5 lines divided into four columns inscribed in nasta'liq in black ink around an illuminated title inscribed in blue ink in a cartouche. Illustrated below with King Bahram Gur seated on a large throne, listening to a story told by the daughter of the King of Chorasmie in the presence of two maids. The whole framed by a margin of gilded floral decoration on a blue background. On the back, 15-line Arabic religious manuscript folios. Sight size: 22 x 13cm Significant paint chips, mounted with a margin of another page, two manuscript folios glued to the spine, wetness on the latter. The Haft Peikar (Seven Portraits), is one of the five books of the famous Khamseh (Quintet) by the Persian poet Nezâmi (c. 1141 - 1209). Expert: Camille CELIER
